United States of America – National Day of Mourning

04 december, 2018

United States Postal Service (USPS) asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that President Donald J. Trump has proclaimed Wednesday, 5 December 2018 as a National Day of Mourning in remembrance of former President George H.W. Bush.

Out of respect for the 41st President of the United States and to honour his vast contributions to the country during his lifetime, and consistent with the Presidential Proclamation, the United States Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on 5 December.

USPS will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure that its network remains fluid and that it does not experience any impacts to its package delivery operations that might negatively affect its customers or business partners during the remainder of its busy holiday season.

USPS thanks Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding and cooperation.
